#3 Leisurely walking

While you can't go as far, you can certainly walk the roads!  If you’re looking for a relaxing, scenic, and easy walk in Acadia, Witch Hole Pond is one of the best spots to soak in nature without the crowds. Whether you’re hiking, biking, or just strolling, this trail offers classic Acadia beauty with minimal elevation gain and maximum tranquility.

Our Favorite Carriage Road Locations

Bubble Pond

Nestled between the eastern slopes of Pemetic Mountain and the western slopes of Cadillac Mountain,  it is a scenic and tranquil spot popular among visitors seeking a quieter alternative to Acadia’s busier lakes and ponds.

Around the Mountain Loop

The Around the Mountain Loop is one of the most scenic and iconic carriage road loops in Acadia National Park, circling the base of Pemetic Mountain.  It includes panoramic views and lots of opportunity for blueberry picking.

Day Mountain

The Day Mountain Loop gently circles the lower slopes of Day Mountain, winding through classic Acadian woodlands with occasional peeks of the ocean and nearby peaks.   A spur trail leads up to the summit of Day Mountain (~583 ft), offering a 360° panoramic view that including Seal Harbor, Cranberry Isles, and Cadillac Mountain.

Witch Hole Pond

The Witch Hole Pond Loop is one of the most bike-friendly carriage road loops in Acadia National Park, especially if you're looking for a relatively short, scenic, and beginner-accessible ride. Beavers frequent this area so keep an eye out for fresh beaver chew
